NACC Recommendations for Legal Representation of Children and Youth in Neglect and Abuse Cases
The 2021 NACC Recommendations establish 10 primary duties of attorneys for children and youth which reflect NACC’s overall vision for effective, high-quality legal representation.
Co-designed by young people with lived experience in the child welfare system, NACC’s Advisory Council on Children’s Legal Representation, these Recommendations were adopted by the NACC Board of Directors in 2021. They supersede and rescind NACC’s 2001 Recommendations and the NACC Revised ABA Standards of Practice for Attorneys Representing Children from the late 1990s.
