Safety First: Planning for Immigrant Children, Parents, and Caregivers in Uncertain Times

$45.00This workshop, led by experts in immigration and child welfare law, will cover the latest on the new administration’s policies on immigration, their potential impacts on children and families, practical guidance to advise your clients, and proactive strategies that children and families can consider to keep themselves safe.
Presenters:
Rachel Konrad, JD, is a Senior Director and Immigration Attorney with Casey Family Programs, whose mission is to “provide and improve — and ultimately prevent the need for — foster care.” In her role as a strategic consultant, she works with child welfare agencies and legal stakeholders to better address and stabilize the immigration needs of children and parents in child welfare. She provides education, technical assistance, and consultation on process development for programs to better support the needs of non-citizen families. Prior to joining Casey Family Programs, Ms. Konrad managed an attorney team at a large immigration legal service provider. She also has extensive experience in direct representation of immigrant children and families, including detained parents and unaccompanied children. She believes that safety and security are essential human rights and feels privileged to have assisted people as they navigate paths to stability and permanency in the United States.
Randi Mandelbaum, JD, LLM – Associate Dean for Clinical Education (Newark), Director of the Child Advocacy Clinic, Professor of Law, and Annamay Sheppard Scholar – Rutgers Law School. Randi Mandelbaum has devoted her career to working with children and families. As the founding director of the Child Advocacy Clinic, she spearheads a unique clinical program, which is aimed at comprehensively addressing the needs of low-income children and their families. The CAC provides representation to children in foster care, undocumented immigrant children, and low-income children with disabilities.

This participatory activity has been accredited by the State Bar of California for a maximum of 2 hours of General credit for live and on-demand participation. Attorneys must sign in for CLE.
Colorado (50‐minute hour) – Live or self-study
This course is pending accreditation by the Colorado Board of Continuing Legal and Judicial Education for a maximum of 2.4 units of General credit for live and on-demand participation. Attorneys must sign in for CLE. Colorado is a self-report state.
Attorneys in all other jurisdictions must seek CLE accreditation individually if desired.
