Fulton v. City of Philadelphia: NACC joined an amicus brief requesting that the United States Supreme Court affirm the denial of Catholic Social Services’ request for injunctive relief.

In re L.I. and H.D.K.: NACC and other legal services organizations filed an amicus brief arguing that parents’ counsel should be appointed upon the filing of a petition for custody or family supervision.

In re S.B.: NACC filed an amicus brief contending that S.B., a non-verbal older youth, was denied his due process and statutory rights when his counsel was prohibited from using the substituted judgment model to advocate for the Nevada court’s continued jurisdiction over S.B. after his eighteenth birthday. 

In re R.S.: NACC filed an amicus brief asking the Maryland Court of Appeals to rule that the ICPC does not apply to non-custodial out-of-state parents.

Flores v. Barr: NACC joined an amicus brief supporting the continued implementation of the Flores Settlement Agreement.

A.R. v. D.R.: NACC filed an amicus brief supporting the application of the fundamental fairness standard for assessing prejudice in claims of ineffective assistance of counsel in Colorado dependency proceedings.

Fulton v. City of Philadelphia: NACC joined an amicus brief contending that Catholic Social Services’ refusal to certify same-sex couples as foster parents violates the City of Philadelphia’s anti-discrimination policy and harms the foster care system.

In re Emmanuel B: NACC and Lawyers For Children filed an amicus brief in a New York appellate court asserting that the ICPC does not apply when an out-of-state, non-custodial parent seeks custody.

MD v. Abbott: NACC filed an amicus brief arguing that Texas violates children’s Fourteenth Amendment substantive due process right to be free from an unreasonable risk of harm while in foster care.

In re: T.S. and E.S.: NACC signed on to an amicus brief advocating for the appointment of independent legal counsel, instead of dual-role representation by a GAL, for children in contested TPR proceedings in Pennsylvania.
